Common questions

What sources can VelaTV play from?
This device's local storage, a NAS or network share (SMB), a WebDAV private cloud (Nextcloud, ownCloud, Synology and similar), Google Drive, or your Telegram account. Add any combination and see Continue Watching across all of them.
Do I need a Telegram account?
No. Add local device storage, a NAS/network share, or a WebDAV/Google Drive source and start watching with no sign-in at all. Telegram is available as an additional source if you use it to store personal videos. VelaTV does not host or provide any content.
Do I need to set up a media server?
No. Unlike Plex, Jellyfin or Emby, VelaTV does not need a separate server program running on another machine. It connects directly to your NAS, WebDAV, or Google Drive account from the app.
What devices does VelaTV work on?
Android phones and tablets, and any device running Android TV, including Mi Box, Nvidia Shield TV, Fire TV Stick (sideload), Chromecast with Google TV, and most smart TVs from Sony, TCL, Hisense and others.
Is my data safe?
Local files, NAS, and WebDAV connections happen directly between your device and your own storage, nothing is uploaded to us. Telegram and Google Drive credentials/tokens are encrypted locally on your device using EncryptedSharedPreferences. All network traffic uses TLS encryption, and device integrity is verified through Google Play Integrity API.
What video formats are supported?
VelaTV plays all formats supported by Android, including MKV, MP4, AVI, MOV, WebM and more. You can also open videos in external players like VLC or MX Player for additional format support.
Is it free?
VelaTV includes a free 10-day trial with full access. After the trial, a premium subscription is available through Google Play. No credit card is required to start the trial.
What if I can't pay through Google Play?
If Google Play payments are unavailable in your region, you can purchase premium through our Telegram bot @VelaTVBot. The bot accepts Telegram Stars and cryptocurrency (USDT). Your premium will activate automatically after payment.
How do I delete my data?
You can delete all local data (watch history, cache, metadata) from Settings inside the app. For full account and server data deletion, visit the Delete Account page.
