Watch Telegram Videos on Fire TV Stick (2026 Guide)

Install VelaTV on Amazon Fire TV Stick and play your personal Telegram channel videos directly on your TV with the Fire TV remote. No phone casting, no USB drives, no quality loss.

Fire TV download paused (September 2026): the current VelaTV download does not open on Fire TV. This build needs Google Play, which Fire TV does not have, so it closes right after launch. We have paused velatv.org/tv while we fix it, and the steps below will work again once the download is back. On Android TV and Google TV, install VelaTV from Google Play.

The Fire TV Stick + Telegram Problem

Amazon Fire TV Stick runs Fire OS, which is built on Android but uses the Amazon Appstore instead of Google Play. The standard mobile Telegram app does not work well on Fire TV for two reasons:

Most users end up casting videos from their phone, which drops the quality, drains the phone battery, and locks up the phone during playback. There is a better way.

The Solution: VelaTV on Fire TV Stick

VelaTV is a private media player built specifically for TV remotes. It connects to your existing Telegram account, scans the channels and groups you already follow, and shows your personal video files in a TV-optimized library.

Installing VelaTV on Fire TV Stick: 3 Methods

Read this first: three things to know before you start

1. There is now an official download. The APK is at velatv.org/tv and that is the address you type into Downloader in step 3. It is the same file Google Play serves, signed by Google, not a rebuild. An earlier version of this page described sideloading without there being any file to install, and we are sorry for the wasted time.

2. Your Fire TV needs Fire OS 6 or newer (Android 6.0 and up). That covers Fire TV Stick 4K, 4K Max, Lite, 3rd generation, Fire TV Cube and current built-in Fire TV sets. The original Fire TV Stick and the 2nd-generation stick run Fire OS 5, which is Android 5.1, and the install will simply fail with "App not installed" and no explanation. Check under Settings > My Fire TV > About.

3. You cannot buy Premium on the Fire Stick itself, because Fire OS has no Google Play and purchases go through Google Play. This costs you nothing: your account lives on your Telegram login, not on a device. Install VelaTV from Google Play on an Android phone or tablet, start the free trial or buy there, then sign in on the Fire Stick with the same Telegram account and everything you have follows, including Premium. If that is awkward for you, email support@velatv.org and we will sort it out with you directly.

Updates are manual. An app installed this way does not update itself. When we ship a new version, come back to velatv.org/tv and install over the top; your data stays put.

One thing that does not work: copying the APK off a device where VelaTV is already installed. Google Play delivers the app as several split files, one each for the processor type, screen density and language, and a single copied file cannot install.

Method 2 (Downloader sideload) is the one to use, and it takes about 5 minutes.

Method 1 Not available

VelaTV is not in the Amazon Appstore, so searching for it from the Fire TV home screen will not find it. Use Method 2 instead. We will update this page if that changes.

Method 2 Recommended

Sideload via the Downloader app from Amazon Appstore. Takes about 5 minutes. Step-by-step below.

Method 3 Advanced

Sideload via ADB from a PC. Faster if you already have ADB set up, but requires a computer and USB debugging enabled on Fire TV. Skip unless you are comfortable with command-line tools.

Method 2: Sideload via Downloader (Step-by-Step)

1

Enable Apps from Unknown Sources

From the Fire TV home screen, go to Settings > My Fire TV > Developer Options. Turn on "Apps from Unknown Sources". You may need to first enable Developer Options by selecting "About" and clicking the device name 7 times.

2

Install Downloader from Amazon Appstore

From the Fire TV home screen, search for "Downloader" (the orange icon by AFTVnews). Install the free app. This is the standard tool for sideloading apps on Fire TV.

3

Open Downloader and Enter the VelaTV APK URL

Launch Downloader. In the URL field type velatv.org/tv and press Go. That is the whole address: no "https", no "www", and capital letters do not matter. The file is about 48 MB and takes 1-2 minutes on a normal connection.

If Downloader refuses the file or says it cannot open it, type the full address instead: velatv.org/downloads/velatv.apk. It is the same file, reached directly without a redirect, which some older builds of Downloader handle better.

4

Install VelaTV

When the download completes, Downloader prompts an Install dialog. Press Install, wait for the install to finish, then press Open. After first launch you can delete the APK file to save space (Downloader will offer to do this for you).

5

Sign In with Your Telegram Account

VelaTV opens to a login screen. Choose QR code to sign in (fastest - takes 10 seconds with your phone) or enter your phone number and verification code. Your credentials are encrypted locally on the Fire TV device using EncryptedSharedPreferences. Nothing is sent to external servers.

6

Browse and Play Your Videos

After login, VelaTV scans your Telegram channels and groups. Select which ones to include in your library. Videos are organized automatically - series and episodes are detected from file names. Press play with the Fire TV remote and enjoy.

Tip: After install, VelaTV does not appear in the main Fire TV launcher row by default. Find it under Your Apps & Channels (scroll down on the home screen). Long-press the app icon to pin it to the main row.

No app store at all on your TV or box?

The steps above depend on Downloader, which comes from the Amazon Appstore. Some Android TV boxes and projectors ship with no store whatsoever, so there is nowhere to get Downloader from in the first place. Pick whichever of these your device allows. In all three cases, turn on "install from unknown sources" in the device settings first, wherever your particular box hides it.

If the device has a web browser

Open it, go to velatv.org/tv, and let the file download. Then open the device's file manager, find it in the Downloads folder, and select it to install. This is the closest thing to the Downloader route.

If the device has a USB port

On a computer, download the file from velatv.org/tv and copy it to a USB stick. Plug the stick into the TV or box, open its file manager, and select the file. Worth knowing: a Fire TV Stick's own port is for power only, so this route needs a box or TV with a real USB socket.

If you have a computer and do not mind a command line

Enable ADB or network debugging in the device's developer settings, note its IP address, then run adb connect <ip> followed by adb install velatv.apk. Fastest option if you already have the Android platform tools, and pointless if you do not.

If none of these work on your device, write to support@velatv.org and tell us which box you have. We would rather answer one message than have you spend an evening on it. And if the device does have Google Play, ignore this whole page: install VelaTV from the Play Store in one tap instead.

Frequently Asked Questions (Fire TV Stick)

Does VelaTV work on Fire TV Stick Lite?
Yes. VelaTV works on all Fire TV Stick models including the Fire TV Stick Lite, Fire TV Stick (3rd gen), Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick 4K Max, and Fire TV Cube. The Lite model has slightly less RAM, so video transcoding from high-bitrate sources may be slower, but standard playback works normally.
Why is there no Telegram app for Fire TV Stick by default?
Telegram does not publish an official app for Fire TV / Fire OS. The mobile Telegram app is not optimized for the Fire TV remote (no touchscreen, D-pad navigation only). VelaTV solves this by providing a dedicated Fire TV interface that connects to your existing Telegram account and shows only your video files in a TV-optimized layout.
Is sideloading on Fire TV Stick safe?
Sideloading itself is an Amazon-supported feature. The Settings menu on every Fire TV Stick has a built-in "Apps from Unknown Sources" toggle for exactly this purpose. The safety depends on the APK source: only download APKs from the developer's official website or trusted mirrors. Always verify the download URL matches the official VelaTV website.
Will sideloading void my Fire TV Stick warranty?
No. Sideloading apps via the Settings menu is officially supported by Amazon and does not affect your warranty. This is a normal feature of the device. You can disable "Apps from Unknown Sources" at any time.
Can I uninstall VelaTV from Fire TV Stick easily?
Yes. Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications, find VelaTV in the list, select it, and choose Uninstall. The app and all local data will be removed in a few seconds.
Why isn't VelaTV in the Amazon Appstore directly?
VelaTV is published on Google Play Store, which is the primary app store for Android TV. The Amazon Appstore has a separate publishing flow that VelaTV is in the process of completing. Until then, sideloading is the supported install path on Fire TV.
Do I need a phone to use VelaTV on Fire TV Stick?
Only for the initial sign-in (to scan the Telegram login QR code), which takes about 10 seconds. After that, VelaTV runs entirely on the Fire TV Stick. You can also sign in by entering your phone number and verification code without a phone nearby.
Does VelaTV work without internet on Fire TV?
You need internet to stream videos from Telegram cloud. However, VelaTV supports downloading videos to Fire TV internal storage for offline playback - useful for travel or low-connectivity locations.
What video formats does VelaTV support on Fire TV?
VelaTV supports MKV, MP4, AVI, MOV, WebM, and most common video formats. Hardware acceleration is enabled for H.264, H.265 / HEVC, and VP9. You can also open videos in external players like VLC for Fire TV for additional codec support.
